In March 2011, stage 1 was finished on the Anaerobic Digester at Clayton Hall Farm. This bioenergy plant currently produces 1 MWh of electricity. The project was the first farm-based food waste-based plant in the UK.

Initially the plant consisted of one digester and one generator, though later another generator was added. Construction of a second digester was completed in July 2015.
